Hitachi Global Air Power earns association award

Hitachi Global Air Power US's commitment to the environment and community hasn't gone unnoticed.

The Indiana Manufacturers Association presented the Michigan City-based company with the Community Impact Award during its 2026 Manufacturing Day Celebration.

The award honors Hitachi Global Air Power's recent initiatives that promoted service and civic engagement. Projects include the conversion of 7 acres of turf grass at the company's Michigan City headquarters into a native prairie. The compressed air solutions company also is helping to restore woodland at the International Friendship Botanic Gardens in Pottawattamie Park. Plus, it celebrated its 60th anniversary by donating a mural that spans eight retaining walls in Michigan City.

“Strong communities are built through partnership and service, and we believe businesses have an important role to play,” said Hideki Fujimoto, president and CEO of Hitachi Global Air Power, in a press release. “We’re proud to call Michigan City home for more than six decades and grateful to be part of its story, and its future.”

The Indiana Manufacturing Excellence Awards were presented Oct. 1 at the Biltwell Event Center in Indianapolis. The Indianapolis-based advocacy organization also celebrated its 125th anniversary.
