Hylant expands into Elkhart with new office

Hylant, an insurance brokerage firm, opened a new office in Elkhart as part of a long-term expansion plan.

The Great Elkhart Chamber celebrated the milestone with a ribbon cutting Oct. 14 at 210 E. Jackson Blvd.

“We are here to serve and support the community by being a partner in the future growth of Elkhart,” said Max Rispler, Hylant's Elkhart market president.

Hylant announced the expansion into the Elkhart market in April as part of its long-term Great Lakes growth strategy. The company already has a client base in the area.

“Establishing a local presence in Elkhart reflects our commitment to being close to the clients and communities we serve,” said David Norris, CEO, Great Lakes region at Hylant, in a press release. “This market aligns strongly with our strengths and values, and we believe local leadership is essential to building meaningful, long‑term relationships.”

Rispler was chosen to lead the new office because of his leadership during expansion in west Michigan.

“Max’s leadership style and relationship‑first approach make him the right person to lead our expansion in Elkhart,” Norris said. “His promotion reflects both his performance and our confidence in his ability to grow the market thoughtfully and sustainably.”

Rispler's strength is building relationships and his commitment to the community.

“This is a market built on strong relationships, family‑owned businesses, and pride in local industry and values that align closely with Hylant’s culture,” Rispler said. “I look forward to being actively involved and supporting clients as they navigate increasingly complex risks.”

Rispler said Hylant plans to hire three to five teammates each year.

“If we have the ability to grow faster, we will do that!” he said.

Hylant also supports the Boys & Girls Club of Elkhart County, Cultivate Food Rescue, Wellfield Botanic Gardens, Community Foundation of Elkhart County, The Delta – weIMPACT and Crossroads United Way.

“Our intent is to ensure dollars we drive as we grow get reinvested back into the community,” Rispler said.

Toledo, Ohio-based Hylant, which was founded in 1935, specializes in risk management and employee benefits. It employs more than 1,100 people in 20 locations.
