HealthLinc plans merger with Heart City Health in Elkhart County

HealthLinc and Heart City Health plan to merge in an effort to improve access to healthcare in Elkhart County.

The merger is subject to regulatory approvals, which will be decided this fall.

“By bringing our organizations together, we are expanding access to care, strengthening services and ensuring more individuals and families receive the care they need close to home,” said Melissa Mitchell, CEO of HealthLinc, in a press release.

Heart City Health was founded in the City of Elkhart in 1993. HealthLinc was founded in 1996 as Hilltop Neighborhood House in Valparaiso, and has since expanded to 14 clinics in Northern Indiana. Both offer services as a federally qualified health center.

After the merger is complete, HealthLinc will offer services at 18 clinics that serve more than 73,400 people yearly. Heart City Health's four locations will be rebranded as HealthLinc clinics.

“This partnership is about more than growth; it’s about transformation,” said LaLaesha Black, CEO of Heart City Health. “By aligning our strengths with HealthLinc, we are creating a stronger, more resilient system of care that will meet the evolving needs of Elkhart for years to come.”

HealthLinc offers primary medical care, dental, optometry, behavioral health and pharmacy services. Appointments will remain the same and locations will remain open during the merger process. Medical records will automatically transfer. Learn more about the merger here.
