Martell Electric of South Bend buys Michigan-based Tishhouse Electric

Martell Electric is expanding its Michigan presence.

The South Bend-based firm purchased Tishhouse Electric in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Martell Electric, a division of Martell Services Group Inc., also leased a 10,000-square-foot office and warehouse at 9950 Portage Road in Portage, Michigan.

“With the acquisition, there are 12 employees in the Portage office, and we expect that to grow to 30 or more in 2022,” said John Martell, CEO of Martell Electric. “This market is a key part of our Michigan and overall growth strategy.”

Tishhouse Electric was founded in 1998 by Carrie and Stephen Tishhouse, who will be actively involved with Martell Electric.

“It was important to us that we partnered with an organization that shares our values, and we know that John Martell and his team will honor our legacy as they expand here,” said Carrie and Stephen Tishhouse.

Martell Electric in June purchased a 2.8-acre parcel at 2450 Townline Road in Benton Harbor, Michigan, which is on the south side of I-94, west of the Pipestone Road exit. The company will build a 10,000-square-foot office and warehouse at the site, which is scheduled to be completed in 2022.
