Daniel Hopp is retiring from the Horizon Bancorp Inc. board of directors Dec. 31 after 18 years of service. Vanessa Williams will fill the vacancy from his retirement.
“Dan has earned the admiration and respect from his fellow directors and employees for his loyalty to Horizon, personal values, good governance practices, business acumen, community service, support for diversity and love for his family,” said Craig Dwight, Horizon's chairman and CEO, in a press release. “In his confident and professional style, Dan provided sound counsel to Horizon’s board of directors and management team during years of rapid growth.”
That expansion included growing from 10 offices in 2004 to more than 70 locations in 2022. Assets also grew from $904 million to $7.7 billion, Dwight said. Horizon Bancorp has headquarters in Michigan City.
Hopp was the board's lead director from July 2013 to June 2022. He also served on the compensation and nominating committee and the corporate governance committee. He began his service on Horizon Bank's board in 2004. Hopp reached Horizon Bankcorp's mandatory retirement age.
Williams is the senior vice president and general counsel at Troy, Michigan-based Kelly Services, which offers workforce solutions worldwide. She has served on Horizon Bank's board of directors since Jan. 1, 2022, and is on its asset and liability committee and compensation committee. Her term on Horizon Bancorp.'s board begins Jan. 1 and expires at the next annual shareholders meeting.
Williams also worked in leadership positions at IHS Markit, R.L. Polk & Co., Michigan Basic Property Insurance Association and Plunkett Cooney. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama, an MBA from Wayne State University in Detroit and her juris doctorate from the College of William and Mary in Virginia.
Horizon Bancorp is the parent company of Horizon Bank, which has locations in Indiana and Michigan.
