Conexus Indiana is hosting a workshop Nov. 4 that will help advanced manufacturing and logistics companies find and keep the workers they need.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. also is supporting the workshop co-hosted by Ivy Tech Community College's Elkhart satellite location.
The Industry Exchange Workshop will offer opportunities to connect with peers about hiring challenges and solutions. Small- and medium-sized companies will share how they retain skilled employees and replicate their efforts.
“Every manufacturer in northern Indiana is competing for the same skilled workers, and hiring is only half the challenge. Keeping good people is what makes a workforce strategy last,” said Jeremy Eltz, senior director of talent programs at Conexus Indiana. “This workshop puts employers in the same room to share what’s actually working, so they can leave with ideas they can put in place right away.”
Participants also will learn about EARN Indiana, Next Level Jobs and apprenticeship tax credits.
EARN Indiana is the state's work-study program for students with financial needs. Employers receive matching funds up to 50% of a student's hourly pay. Next Level Jobs offers free job training for Indiana residents in high-demand fields. Tuition or employer training are eligible.
The in-person workshop will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 4 at 22531 County Road 18 in Goshen. Register for the free event here.
