The Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce's annual Minority Business Excellence Awards honored five businesses.
The Sept. 10 event included the perspective of Sam Centellas, CDFI Friendly South Bend Region. The event took place at the Matterhorn Conference Center.
“Minority Business Excellence Awards honor outstanding minority owned businesses or business leaders who have demonstrated excellence in their respective fields,” according to the chamber's website. “The awards recognize individuals and organizations across various sectors who have significantly contributed to the success of their businesses and the empowerment of their communities.”
Minority Business Excellence Award Winners:

- Baker’s Nook Café
- Indiana’s Elite Services
- RL Harris & Associates
Community Impact/Service Award Winner:
- Valentina Jaurer, a business owner in Elkhart
Awardees were nominated by their peers and were determined by members of the chamber's business diversity initiative. Businesses must be at least 51% minority owned and located in Elkhart County.
