Kruggel Lawton CPAs expands in North Central Indiana

Kruggel Lawton CPAs capped five years of growth by relocating its Elkhart office and opening a second office in downtown South Bend.

The full-service accounting and business advisory firm first opened its Elkhart office in 2000 and has grown exponentially since then. Renovations began last summer on the new office on the corner of Main Street and West Jackson Boulevard in the former Key Bank building.

“We are incredibly thankful to have developed strong relationships and deep roots within the Elkhart community over the past 24 years,” said Patrick Lee, CPA and partner at Kruggel Lawton, in a press release. “The new building not only gives us additional space to accommodate our growing team, but it also solidifies our commitment to the Elkhart community and the continued revitalization of downtown Elkhart.”

The office will occupy the second and third floors of the building at 101 S. Main St. in the heart of downtown Elkhart. It can accommodate more than 50 people, has three conference rooms, a training facility and a processing area.

Employees were scheduled to move to the new location from the Tower Bank building at 317 W. Franklin St. in early December.

The firm also opened its seventh office in the Leighton Plaza office building at 130 S. Main St. in South Bend. Partner Adam Schwelnus will lead the client accounting and advisory services team a block away from the current office on South Michigan Street.

Schwelnus is credited with building the CAAS team during his seven years at Kruggel Lawton. The South Bend workforce almost doubled since he became a partner.

“Adam and his team have been able to meet the increasing demand for outsourced accounting services by enhancing our consultative offerings,” said CPA Barry Hall, managing partner. “Adding a second South Bend office specifically for our fastest-growing service line only reinforces our commitment to the needs of our clients.”

The new South Bend office offers space for 20 staff members and has two spaces earmarked for collaboration.

“The rapid growth of our CAAS team over the past five years has been remarkable, and this new office space will allow us to continue expanding our services and capabilities,” Schwelnus said. “It also provides our team with the space and features needed to foster collaboration and learning.”

Kruggel Lawton CPAs has offices in South Bend, Elkhart and Goshen, Indiana; St. Joseph and Portage, Michigan; and Knoxville, Tennessee. Founded by Herm Kruggel in 1956, the firm now has about 150 employees and 20 partners.
