The Elkhart-based Midwest Museum of American Art is mounting an exhibition showcasing sculpture, paintings and ceramics made in Michiana.
The exhibit will feature artwork from the past 46 years of the Elkhart Juried Regional Exhibitions. The nearly 50 artworks included in the commemorative exhibit were created between 1979 and 2024.
Every year since 1979, the Midwest Museum has collected what the jurors of each Elkhart Juried Regional exhibition have awarded as Best of Show. The Best of Show award is purchased by the Midwest Museum for its permanent collection with acquisition funds provided by museum patrons.
Recipients of the award have become recognized for their talents nationally and internationally. Past recipients of the award include Abner Hershberger, Bill Kremer, Tom Meuninck, A.J. Nafziger and Dora Natella.
The collection of work is a historic survey of how the Michiana art world has changed and evolved.
The Made in Michiana exhibit takes place through Sept. 26, at the Midwest Museum of American Art in Elkhart.
