The Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce will host a South Shore Line Improvements – Transportation Breakfast Dec. 6.
Mike Noland, South Shore Line president, will be the guest speaker. Noland will provide updates on the South Shore Line and the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District.
The completion of the $650 million South Shore Line Double Track project is having an impact across the region. The project cut the commute time from Northwest Indiana to Chicago by 30 minutes. Noland will share more about the improvements and the effect they are having on the Northwest Indiana economy.

The double-track project includes 26.6 miles of a new second track between Gary and Michigan City. It also includes platform changes at five stations, 1,475 new parking spaces, and the reconstruction of 22 at-grade crossings and 20 culverts.
