Shive-Hattery moved its South Bend office to a new downtown location in the Momentum Entrepreneurship Hub.
The South Bend office has experienced steady growth since 2013 and “in recent months, that growth has accelerated significantly,” said Kyle Copelin, vice president and director of public buildings. That growth caused a need for more space.
“We outgrew our previous space at The Hibberd and needed to relocate to not only keep with our growth, but to provide our staff with a diversity of collaboration and private spaces that they did not have previously,” Copelin said.
A robust intern program also contributed to the reason for the move. He said the program has allowed the company “to attract some of the best talent to South Bend and to Shive-Hattery.”
The hub was created to support entrepreneurs, professionals and remote workers. It opened in May 2025. It's central location and historical link contributed to the reason Shive-Hattery chose this site.
“Because the owners invested so much time, energy and money to developing a forward-thinking communal space filled with incredible energy and ideas, the building was truly transformed into a hub for creativity and community engagement,” Copelin said. “Those things are the heart of Shive-Hattery’s culture and further emphasizes our commitment to the City of South Bend and to our people.”
The space features a gym, cocktail bar, mothers room, podcast studio, soundproof phone booths and meeting rooms.
Shive-Hattery moved 15 employees to the location at 510 S. Main St, Suite 200, effective May 4.
Shive-Hattery, which was founded in 1895, has 17 offices nationwide. The company provides architecture and engineering services. Some of its projects include the Purdue University Dworkin Student Activities Center in Westville and the WNBA's Chicago Sky practice facility in Bedford Park, Illinois.
