When Northwest Health – La Porte’s oncology practice closed last year, patients requiring cancer treatments traveled farther for care.
Patients will have another option when Northwest Cancer Centers opens April 7 at Northwest Health – La Porte’s Medical Office Building.
The expansion is the result of a collaboration between Northwest Cancer Centers and Northwest Health – La Porte. Over the past six months, hundreds of La Porte residents sought care at Northwest Cancer Centers’ Michigan City location. According to Northwest Cancer Centers, these patients personified the need for an oncology practice in La Porte.
Northwest Cancer Centers operates six locations across Northwest Indiana. Its team includes medical oncologists, hematologists, gynecologic oncologists and radiation oncologists. The La Porte location will offer laboratory and infusion services, an oncology oral prescription dispensary and treatment options.
“Northwest Cancer Centers is proud to be advancing cancer care for the people of La Porte,” said Dr. Mohamad Kassar, Northwest Cancer Centers CEO, in a press release.
To celebrate the new location, Northwest Cancer Centers will host an open house 2 to 5 p.m. April 4 at Northwest Health – La Porte’s Medical Office Building. Health care providers and community members will have the opportunity to meet the physicians, tour the new treatment space and learn about the services available.
