Monica Nevarez is the new branch manager of Notre Dame Federal Credit Union’s Lake County branch in Whiting.
A graduate of Hammond High School, Nevarez is returning to her Lake County roots.
In her new role, Nevarez will oversee the daily operations of the branch, lead team member development and engage with the community.
Nevarez has a decade of banking experience. She began her banking career in 2010 at First Merchants Bank. Nevarez later joined Everwise Credit Union, serving as assistant service center manager. At Everwise Credit Union, she maintained staffing levels, supervised team members and led team member development.
Nevarez has been a Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor since 2021. She is also involved with Adelante, a nonprofit organization focusing on strengthening the Latino community.
Notre Dame Federal Credit Union is a member-owned financial cooperative. Founded in 1941, the credit union was originally housed in the University of Notre Dame’s administration building. Notre Dame Federal Credit Union is independent of the university, and has branch locations serving over 64,000 members nationwide.
