Interra Credit Union surpasses 30th Hometown Giving goal

Goshen-based Interra Credit Union broke its record for giving during its 30th annual Hometown Giving holiday service project. Credit union members and staff raised $47,515 for 43 nonprofit organizations in the five counties Interra serves.

The event started as a coat drive and grew as the years passed. This year’s goal was $40,000.

“Our staff continues to amaze me,” said CEO Amy Sink in a press release. “As a part of Interra’s commitment to ‘Do Well To Do Good,’ nothing makes me happier than to see our staff come together for the greater good of this community. “

Staff members raised $12,000, while members donated almost $6,000 through the “Merry Match” initiative. The corporate office kicked in $25,000.

Employees also volunteered at organizations such as the Goshen Salvation Army, Soup of Success, Boys & Girls Clubs and Bashor’s Children’s Home.

“The generosity of our members and staff amazes each year with how they support Hometown Giving,” COO Andy Marshall said. “There are so many great organizations that these resources go to support.”

Interra Credit Union, which was charted in 1932, has 91,000 members in 24 counties in Northern Indiana and employs 325 employees. It has 16 offices in Elkhart, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Marshall and Noble counties.
