Kimberly Smith was named the executive director of Dunebrook Inc., a nonprofit based in Michigan City.
Smith will lead the family resource efforts of the child advocacy center. Smith has 30 years of nonprofit experience.
“Her experience, leadership, and commitment to children and families really stood out to us,” said Dunebrook Board President Sarah Konieczny in a press release. “She knows Northwest Indiana and understands the importance of strong community partnerships. We are confident she will be a great leader for Dunebrook and help us continue moving our mission forward.”
Smith is a Northwest Indiana native. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Purdue University Calumet and her Master of Social Work from Indiana University Northwest.
Smith helped bring the Parents as Teachers model to the Region as the executive director of the Early Learning Partnership of Northwest Indiana, and is a training facilitator for the Parents as Teachers National Center, according to LinkedIn. She most recently was vice president of community impact at the United Way of Northwest Indiana.
“Strong families and thriving communities are built through relationships, prevention, collaboration, and the belief that every family has strengths and potential,” Smith said.
Dunebrook provides educational and prevention services for families in Lake, Porter, La Porte, Starke, Pulaski, Jasper and Newton counties.
