The South Bend Awesome Fund is taking applications for three $1,000 grants until May 14.
The chapter meets quarterly to distribute the grants to entrepreneurs with early-stage ideas. Chapter members next meet at 5:30 p.m. May 21 at the Momentum Entrepreneurship Hub, 510 S. Main St. in South Bend.
Finalists are selected a week before and are required to give a 5-minute presentation during the meeting. Members then vote for the best pitch.
Applications, which must be received by 4 p.m. May 14, should include how the grant will be used to make South Bend “even more awesome.”
The last round of grants were awarded to: Round the Bend Now and Then, The Book Cottage and Manny's World Cup Fan Zone.
The Awesome Foundation is a global movement started in 2009 that promotes “awesome in the universe.” The grants are funded by local chapter trustees.
“Many awesome projects are novel or experimental, and evoke surprise and delight,” according to the Awesome Foundation's website. “Awesome sometimes challenges and often inspires.”
Chapters have been started around the world, including Chicago and Ann Arbor, Michigan. Learn how to open a chapter here.
