Angels in the Attic to celebrate warehouse

Angels in the Attic founder Kristine Kuroski made a promise 15 years ago, and in August, she's finally keeping it.

As a domestic violence survivor, she knows how hard it is to leave a difficult situation. Her nonprofit Angels in the Attic helps women and children leaving abusive situations by offering some financial help to women and children.

On Aug. 4, she will host a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 4 to show the community Angels in the Attic's warehouse in Mishawaka.

“This ribbon cutting is not about a building,” Kuroski said. “It's about every survivor who thought they were alone. It's about every volunteer who showed up to help. It's about every donor who believed in our mission. Most importantly, it's about hope and the lives that can be changed when a community comes together.”

The nonprofit started as a few donated items stored in an apartment and has grown into a volunteer-driven organization that offers household essentials and other items to help survivors get back on their feet.

Open house guests at the warehouse, 2544 Miracle Lane, can take tours, meet staff, enjoy drinks and treats and learn about volunteer opportunities.

The nonprofit also accepts donations of clothing, furniture, bedding and household goods. Learn more about the organization here.
