New York-based Birch Swing Capital acquired Scrubs on Wheels, an Elkhart company that sells work uniforms.
Scrubs on Wheels provides medical clothing and accessories to health care workers in more than 22 states.
“The deal is the latest platform for Birch Swing Capital, which will bring Scrubs on Wheels to a wider pool of customers through organic growth and add-on acquisitions,” said Ford Schumacher, co-founder and managing director of Birch Swing Capital, in a press release.
Dennis Carrico will remain the Scrubs on Wheels president and keep a stake in ownership.
“We are excited to partner with the Birch Swing team to build on Scrubs' success and take the company to its next phase of growth,” Carrico said.
Aalek Mehta, co-founder and managing director of Birch Swing Capital, said the Scrubs on Wheels model is unique because it offers in-store shopping and online selling options. Scrubs on Wheels has outlet locations in Portage, Mishawaka and Merrillville.
But it is known for bringing the store to employees, allowing them to shop at work in their air-conditioned and heated mobile stores. The company also offers payroll deductions to help make the cost of uniforms manageable for employess.
Schumacher said acquiring Scrubs on Wheels was attractive because it has growth potential both in new products and sales reach. It also remained successful during the pandemic, Mehta said.
Spring Capital Partners IV LP also invested in debt and equity of the company.
Mehta and Schumacher founded Birch Swing Capital in 2016. Scrubs on Wheels was started in 2001 and employs 35 people, according to RocketReach.
