Elkhart-based Forest River Bus acquired Collins Bus in Hutchinson, Kansas.
“The addition of Collins Bus to the Forest River Bus family highlights another milestone in our overall growth and leadership,” said Pete Liegl, president and CEO of Forest River Inc., in a press release. “The performance of our bus and van division is a shining star for Forest River, and this acquisition raises an already high bar.”
Collins Bus was founded in 1967 in Kansas City, Missouri, and is known for its Type A school bus.

Peter Liegl founded Forest River, which now is a Berkshire Hathaway company, in 1996. In 2011, it formed the Forest River Owners’ Group, which has more than 170,000 members today.
