Corewell Health opened its first urgent care in Southwest Michigan as part of a larger expansion initiative in the region.
The new care option is part of the Corewell Health Care Center – Royalton campus at 3900 Hollywood Road in St. Joseph, Michigan.
“We are hearing from communities that access to care needs to be closer to home and easier to reach,” said Natalie Baggio, president of Corewell Health in Southwest Michigan, in a press release. “These investments are one way we’re responding by expanding services where they’re needed and supporting the workforce that makes that care possible.”
The 48-room urgent care includes imaging, laboratory and rehabilitation services, along with primary care and specialty care on the main campus.
“When people need care, they want it to be nearby and available when they need it,” Baggio said. “This new urgent care provides another option for patients and families while helping them connect to the right care, at the right time and in the right setting.”
Other projects planned for the expansion include:
- St. Joseph: Lookout Point apartment for medical residents
- Bridgman: Primary care practice with walk-in care, physical therapy and occupational therapy
- Dowagiac: Primary care and walk-in care
- Niles: New specialty care center
- Niles: New apartment for medical residents
Corewell Health employs more than 60,000 people at 21 hospitals and 300 outpatient centers.
