Question: What is Harmony Healthcare IT's mission statement:
Answer: To transform healthcare data across its lifecycle so it remains trusted, accessible and valuable, helping healthcare organizations reduce risk, optimize operations and elevate patient care.
Q: What was the catalyst for starting the business?
A: Harmony Healthcare IT was founded in 2006 as healthcare was entering a period of significant technological change. Over the past 20 years, we’ve evolved alongside the industry, helping hospitals and health systems navigate electronic health record adoption, system migrations, mergers and acquisitions, legacy system retirement and increasingly complex data management needs. What has remained constant is our focus on helping healthcare organizations ensure their data remains secure, accessible and useful through change.
Q: What is your background?
A: I’ve spent more than two decades working across healthcare technology, finance and operational leadership. I earned my degree from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business and have built experience in areas including economics, revenue cycle management, electronic health records, analytics, data management and healthcare technology.
Q: What is a hurdle you overcame?
A: One of our biggest challenges has also been one of our biggest opportunities: keeping pace with constant change in healthcare technology. In 20 years, we’ve seen the industry move through EHR adoption, major system migrations and consolidation, increasing cybersecurity demands and now rapid advances in AI and automation. We’ve had to continually evolve our technology and expertise while maintaining the trust our clients place in us to manage some of their most critical data.
Q: What is a goal for the future?
A: Our goal is to continue advancing how healthcare organizations manage data throughout its lifecycle. Healthcare technology will continue to change, and we want our clients to be prepared for whatever comes next. That means we will continue to invest in our technology, security, expertise, and service so that healthcare organizations can reduce complexity, operate more efficiently and get greater value from their data.
Q: What goal have you recently accomplished?
A: Reaching our 20th anniversary is a milestone we’re incredibly proud of. Since 2006, Harmony Healthcare IT has grown to serve more than 600 healthcare organizations and has supported data initiatives across more than 715 unique clinical, financial and administrative software brands. But the accomplishment is bigger than the numbers. We’ve built a team and organization here in South Bend that continues to evolve while staying focused on serving our clients and our community. We are making a direct impact on the lives of hundreds of families in the area and thousands of others indirectly through our investments into the community.
Q: Who helped you along the way?
A: Our people. Harmony Healthcare IT’s growth over the past 20 years has been possible because of the expertise, commitment and service mindset of our team. I’ve also had the opportunity to work alongside our other founders and a leadership team that has helped shape Harmony Healthcare IT into the organization it is today. And, of course, our clients have played an important role by trusting us with their data and continually challenging us to evolve with their needs.
Q: A book, movie or TV show that inspired you?
A: “Jerry Maguire,” written and directed by Cameron Crowe. People over profits was the biggest lesson learned here. Profits and growth will come if you focus on running an ethical business that values doing the right thing for our team and giving value to the customers.
Q: Favorite inspirational quote?
A: “Try not to become a man (person) of success, but rather try to become a man (person) of value,” Albert Einstein
