INOVA FCU prepares for longtime CEOs retirement

Elkhart-based INOVA Federal Credit Union has initiated a leadership transition as longtime CEO Dallas Bergl prepares to retire in 2027.

The first step of the succession plan was the July 1 promotion of Joseph Messenger to president. Bergl will transition to president in January, and Messenger will become CEO.

“Dallas has provided exceptional leadership to INOVA over many years, guiding the organization through growth, transformation, and an increasingly complex financial
services environment,” said Robert Weaver, chair of the INOVA Federal Credit Union board of directors, in a press release. “Just as importantly, he has built a strong leadership team and culture that positions INOVA for continued success.”

Messenger joined INOVA in 2005 and most recently was chief financial officer and executive vice president.

“Over the past 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside an exceptional team dedicated to improving the financial well-being in our communities,” Messenger said. “I look forward to building on that foundation, continuing to enhance the member experience, and leading INOVA in my new role as president.”

INOVA, which was founded in 1942, has more than 47,000 members. It has six branches.
