Goodwill Industries of Michiana appointed a new director for the The Excel South Bend, among other new hires.
Jennifer Swisher-Carroll, a former high school teacher at Edwardsburg High School in Michigan, will lead the adult high school program at The Excel Center. The program helps students earn their high school diplomas and prepare for more education or a job.
Justin Zobrosky, former principal of the Purdue Polytechnic High School South Bend, also is joining The Excel Center staff. He will become senior director of academics and operations. Purdue Polytechnic High School South Bend closed after the 2025-26 school year.
Goodwill also announced instructor changes at The Academy, which offers training and certificates to upskill workers.
Dean Barnes will teach automotive skills and mentor students. He worked at his family-owned repair shop for 33 years.
Siscilia McClurken will teach hospitality skills and develop curriculum. She previously was The Academy's program manager for assembly line manufacturing.
“Education and workforce development are powerful tools for changing lives, and we are excited about the contributions each of these individuals will make,” said Debie Coble, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Michiana, in a press release. “Their experience, leadership and commitment to students will help us continue creating opportunities for individuals to earn their diplomas, build confidence and prepare for meaningful careers.”
Goodwill Industries of Michiana has 21 locations in Indiana. Excel Centers in South Bend and Elkhart help adults earn an Indiana high school diploma. The Academy trains workers seeking manufacturing jobs. Goodwill Michiana offers workforce and veteran services, and the Nurse-Family Partnership and Inspired Reads. Every year it also hosts the Little Black Dress fundraising event.
