Theresa and Paul Judge acquired ProForm bike shop in South Bend a little over a year ago, and they already have made a big move.
On July 25, the new owners celebrated the opening of ProForm's new location in the East Bank Village. The shop now is on the South Bend Link Trail.
“We’re honored to continue ProForm’s legacy while bringing our own vision to its future,” said the Judges, owners of ProForm, in a press release. “Moving to the East Bank Village gives us the opportunity to create a welcoming hub for cyclists of all ages and abilities.
“Whether someone is shopping for their first bike, training for their next race, or simply looking to connect with fellow riders, we want ProForm to be a place where the cycling community comes together.”
The Judges acquired the bike shop in 2024 from founders Ken and Shelley Glick, who opened the job 37 years ago.
Ken Glick is still the head mechanic and the shop's bike fitting expert. He opened the store in 1987 after receiving certification from The New England Cycling Academy. He also raced bicycles.
Manager Nick Linarello is expanding the shop's inventory with more bicycles and gear. Linarello is a cycling enthusiast and a form businessman in South Bend.
“Businesses like ProForm contribute to the energy and vibrancy that make downtown a destination, while also supporting healthy, active lifestyles and strengthening our local outdoor recreation community,” said Willow Wetherall, executive director of Downtown South Bend.
The Judges want ProForm to be the cycling destination in South Bend.
“We’re excited to invest in downtown South Bend and look forward to growing alongside this vibrant neighborhood,” they said.
The grand opening included a Tour de France watch party and a question-and-answer session with Bobby Julich, a former professional cyclist and coach. He was third overall in the 1998 Tour de France.
ProForm, which is open Tuesday through Saturday at 520 E. Lasalle Ave., sells bicycles and parts, and other related merchandise.
