Mishawaka teacher Eric Bowers is in Washington, D.C., this week at C-SPAN’s Summer Educators’ Conference.
The Penn High School history teacher is one of 31 middle and high school teachers nationwide selected to participate in the program July 27 through 29. The program introduces educators to C-SPAN's free educational resources to bring back to their classrooms.
“This conference provides a collaborative space for teachers to discover practical resources, exchange ideas, and gain new strategies they can immediately implement in their classrooms,” said Craig McAndrew, C-SPAN director of education relations, in a press release. “As former educators, our team values the opportunity to learn alongside the participants and support their efforts to create meaningful learning experiences.”
Bowers was named an Indiana History Teacher of the Year in 2023. He teaches AP history.
C-SPAN Classroom offers digital resources, including lesson plans, videos and a documentary competition.
Participants were chosen for their desire to integrate innovative resources to their lessons and their ability to share professional experiences with students and colleagues.
C-SPAN provided transportation and hotel accommodations for participants. C-SPAN is a private nonprofit media organization created in 1979.
