Couple restores Carriage Barn in Goshen

The Carriage Barn is more than an event venue. It's where history and the future collide, said co-founder Lorrie Willits.

“The mantra in our household is future building,” Willits said.

She and husband Michael carefully restored the venue on the historic Goshen Old Bag Factory campus, which features 15 local businesses.

The transformed venue offers an elegant wedding and event space for up to 80 guests.

“We created The Carriage Barn to be more than just an event venue,” Lorrie Willits said. “Our vision was to create a place where people can gather, celebrate life’s biggest milestones especially new beginnings and make memories with the people they love.”

The adjacent Hilltop Cabin compliments the space. It was originally built in 1837 in New Paris and relocated to Goshen in 1986. It was completely restored in 2024 to accommodate 16 guests.

“The addition of the historic Hilltop Cabin allows families and wedding parties to enjoy the entire experience together in one beautiful setting,” said Willits, who also is a professional photographer.

The owners will celebrate the Carriage Barn‘s grand opening from 4 to 8 p.m. July 15 at 1009 N. Chicago Ave. in Goshen. Visitors can tour the venue, enjoy refreshments and meet with local event professionals. The couple also will recognize YWCA Safe Haven as their featured nonprofit.
