The Elkhart Riverwalk is more than a local hangout. USA Today also has taken notice.
A panel of USA Today experts nominated the Riverwalk in its Best Riverwalk category as part of its 10Best readers’ choice awards. The public is invited to vote for the best through April 6.
The Elkhart Riverwalk is known for its public art sculptures, Quilt Garden and Central Park bandshell along the Elkhart River.
“The Elkhart Riverwalk has truly spectacular scenery and is the perfect way to enjoy the natural beauty downtown, inviting places for people to gather and terrific restaurants of all kinds,” said Jon Hunsberger, executive director of the Elkhart County CVB, in a press release. “The Elkhart County CVB frequently recommends the Riverwalk to visitors, and they are rarely disappointed.”
The city's Jazz Festival also attracts 20,000 visitors each year. This summer, its 38th year, the festival will take place June 18 through 21.
The Elkhart Riverwalk is among 20 nominated in the 10Best. Other cities include:

“Cities across the United States have transformed their riverfront areas into multi-use spaces for recreational purposes, cultural activities, dining and nightlife,” as described on the voting page. “And strolling along any of these 20 riverwalks — nominated by an expert panel as the best in the country — offers an experience that combines the serenity of nature with the liveliness of city life.”
The awards also feature categories like Best City Park and Best Public Playground, among many others. Vote here up to once per day until noon ET April 6. Winners will be announced April 15.
