Health system names Beacon Allegan president

Gregory Piper has been interim president of Beacon Allegan since November. Now the title is official.

The 25-year veteran in health care leadership most recently was Beacon Health System's vice president of retail operations. That role included overseeing Beacon Granger Hospital since it opened in November 2019.

“Serving this community as interim president has deepened my commitment to our mission of delivering outstanding care in southwest Michigan,” Piper said in a press release.

The critical access hospital serves southwest Michigan.

“I’m energized by how strongly our Beacon values align with our new board of volunteer community leaders,” Piper said. “I look forward to continuing to build relationships with associates, providers and community partners as we strengthen health care access across the region.”

Piper started his Beacon Health System career at Memorial Hospital in South Bend in 2001 as a distribution manager.

Piper earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois and MBA from Indiana University.

Beacon Health System employs about 11,000 people and 2,500 medical providers.
