The Potawatomi Zoo in South Bend invites community members to Zoo Winter Days 2026.
During the winter, the zoo will be open every Saturday and Sunday from Jan. 3 to March 15. Non-members can enjoy discounted admissions. Concessions and the Potawatomi Express train will operate, weather permitting, and giraffe feeding will be available.
Zoo winter days offers an opportunity to observe animals during the off-season.
The zoo in South Bend began in 1902, as a duck pond in Leeper Park. In 1921, the Potawatomi Zoo was established in Potawatomi Park, between the St. Joseph River and the Grand Trunk railroad in the east side neighborhood of River Park. The zoo is home to about 500 animals.
