The Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce’s Transportation Council is hosting its final Transportation Breakfast of the year Dec. 5.
The breakfast will feature a discussion focused on improvements at South Bend International Airport.
Recent projects at the airport include the completion of the $105 million Taxiway Bravo Realignment and Ramp Reconstruction and a consolidated Quick Turnaround Facility for rental car operators. Additional terminal improvements include new gates, a business center and restrooms.
The addition of new flights and increased usage of the airport has led to the need for more parking during peak seasons. A new Self-Pay Parking Lot is scheduled for completion and plans are underway for a more efficient front drive configuration and terminal façade improvement.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the massive construction projects at the airport, including the completed projects and those coming in the near future.
The Transportation Council advocates for the continuous and coordinated improvement in the network which serves transportation needs in Elkhart County and connecting the community to other areas. This includes highways, air transportation, rail service and other multi-modal forms of transportation.
The Transportation Breakfast will take place 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Dec. 5, at the Matterhorn Conference Center in Elkhart. Learn more here.
