Bank chairman honored

Christopher Murphy III, 1st Source Bank and 1st Source Corp. executive chairman, received the Leaders in Banking Excellence award from the Indiana Bankers Association.

The Leaders in Banking Excellence award recognizes individuals for their impact on the community as well as on the banking industry in Indiana.

“We are pleased that Chris was honored by the IBA with this award,” said Andrea Short, 1st Source Bank CEO and 1st Source Corp. CEO and president, in a press release. “His contributions over the past 50-plus years – giving of his time, leadership and expertise – have helped to shape the Indiana banking community.”

Amber Van Til, Indiana Bankers Association president and CEO, said it’s an honor to shine a spotlight on Murphy’s career.

“Leaders like Chris are precisely who we had in mind when the association created this honor,” Van Til said. “A true giant of our industry, Chris has maintained a consistent focus on the Hoosiers his institution serves even as it has grown to become one of the state’s largest banks.”

Murphy’s name will be added to a Wall of Excellence in the association’s offices in Indianapolis alongside the 46 other honorees since the award’s inception in 2018.
