The City of Michigan City is inviting community members to help shape the future of a proposed Innovation Center.
The center will support entrepreneurs, small businesses, creatives, technologists and remote workers.
The Innovation Center was first studied in 2021. The goal is to foster economic growth, innovation and collaboration within the Region. The city is revisiting the feasibility study to ensure the project aligns with evolving community demands and opportunities.
The survey, “Help Shape Michigan City’s Future Innovation Center,” seeks input on desired amenities, potential usage, program interests and perceived community impact. It is open to all residents, business owners, entrepreneurs and stakeholders interested in contributing to the city's economic development.
The proposed Innovation Center will be a hub that provides co-working spaces and private offices, meeting and conference rooms, event and training facilities, research & development/creative makerspaces and labs, child care support, business development and mentorship programs, digital skills and professional development workshops and technology enhanced trainings.
Community members are invited to complete the online survey by June 30. The survey will take about five to seven minutes to complete. Its goal is to gather insights that will inform the updated feasibility study for the project. The survey can be found here.
