Comcast expands Michiana footprint

Comcast recently announced the extension of its high-speed internet network in Cass County.

The move brings high-speed internet to over 850 homes in Pokagon and Silver Creek Townships, including homes surrounding the Sister Lakes.

“Comcast is proud to expand its network once again in southwest Michigan,” said Chris Smith, Comcast regional senior vice president, in a press release.

Comcast’s expansion in Cass County is part of the company’s investment in southwest Michigan. It comes on the heels of Comcast’s recent network expansion in Berrien County. Comcast has invested over $880 million in its network in Michigan over the last three years. The internet company now has over 65,000 WiFi hotspots in southwest Michigan.

Cass County residents will also have access to Comcast’s Internet Essentials, a broadband adoption program that offers eligible households low-cost, high-speed internet and affordable computers. The program has helped 1.26 million Michigan residents connect to the internet at home since it launched in 2011.

Cass County joins the 64 million homes and businesses across the country to have access to Comcast’s internet services.
