South Bend Airport sets record

South Bend International Airport saw a record number of passengers take off in March 2025.

Over 50,000 people departed on flights from the airport in a single month. March 2025 enplanements – an industry metric indicating the number of people boarding an airplane from a specific airport – increased 24.6% yearly from 40,612 to 50,602.

At the end of the first quarter, South Bend International Airport enplanements reached 134,624, a 27.7% increase over the first quarter of 2024. Historically, January and February are the slowest months of the year while March begins the busy spring break travel season. However, SBN saw an increase in year-over-year enplanements of 43.8% and 17.6% in January and February, respectively.

“Forward looking schedules show summer seat capacity up 30-40%. This is a result of additional frequencies on existing routes and new routes that started toward the end of 2024,” said Mike Daigle, South Bend International Airport CEO and executive director, in a press release. “With a continued choice to fly South Bend, we anticipate serving over one million total air passengers by the end of 2025.”

South Bend International Airport’s five air carriers provide nonstop flights to sixteen destinations, with connections worldwide. South Bend International’s multi-modal terminal serves over one million air and rail passengers each year.
