Goshen-based Interra Credit Union received the Dora Maxwell Community Service Award for its local initiatives.
The award was presented at the Indiana Credit Union League’s annual convention.
The convention brings leaders from Indiana’s credit union community together for networking, learning and discussion. A highlight of the event is the awards banquet. The awards honor outstanding achievements in the credit union sector.
The Dora Maxwell Community Service Award recognizes credit unions for their commitment to community service and involvement in local initiatives. Named after Dora Maxwell, a community activist, the award honors credit unions making a positive impact in the communities they serve.
One of Interra’s initiatives is its Hometown Giving holiday project. The project started 30 years ago as a community coat drive and has grown. The project provides financial support, hosts parties and events, adopts families and donates wish list items to support organizations that serve those in need. Last year, Interra employees raised $47,000.
“Our staff continues to amaze me,” said Amy Sink, Interra CEO, in a press release. “As a part of Interra’s commitment to Do Well To Do Good, nothing makes me humbled than to see our staff come together and be fully invested for the greater good of this community.”
Interra Credit Union serves 90,000 members. It spans 24 counties in northern Indiana. Interra Credit Union was chartered in 1932.
