United to offer D.C.-South Bend service

United Airlines will begin offering daily nonstop service from Washington D.C. to South Bend International Airport Dec. 3.

Flights will depart Washington Dulles International Airport 6 p.m. and arrive at South Bend 8 p.m. Flights will depart South Bend 10 a.m. and arrive at Washington D.C. 11:45 a.m.

“We are thrilled to have United offer a second destination from SBN,” said Mike Daigle, SBN CEO and executive director, in a press release. “The daily service will allow for easy connections to 135 domestic and international markets.”

“For travelers with a final destination of Washington D.C., the Silver Line Metro station at Dulles provides access to trains via an indoor pedestrian walkway from the airport to downtown,” Daigle said.

South Bend International Airport’s five air carriers provide nonstop flights to sixteen destinations. The airport’s multi-modal terminal serves over one million air and rail passengers each year. United Airlines first offered commercial jet service at the airport in 1967 with a flight from South Bend to New York City by way of Fort Wayne.
