The City of Elkhart celebrated the ribbon cutting on The Delta neighborhood in the Elkhart River District.
The development will include three buildings: Ivy Row, The Clark and The Penstock. The development will feature 89 apartments and 12,000 square feet of space for retail.
“This milestone is an exciting step forward for the community,” according to a city Facebook post.
The Delta reported on LinkedIn that the development is already 60% leased, with almost half of new residents coming from outside Indiana.
“Our work has only begun here in The Delta,” reported the post. “There’s even more on the way with new food and beverage concepts, public art installations, local retail, plus construction already underway on our next two buildings.”
The Delta's name was chosen for its meaning as “change,” plus its location at the St. Joseph and Elkhart rivers. It is touted as a “walkable” community.
