Dwigans-Merritt developed and led programs community engagement programs, such as city-wide summer reading events and afterschool clubs. She worked to build partnerships with schools and local nonprofits.

“My heart has always looked for creative ways to connect with the community, whether that’s through splashy dog days, cozy family nights or other unexpected little moments to make you smile and feel connected to your neighbors,” Dwigans-Merritt said in a press release. “I’m here to listen, dream big and plan some events as regular programing that truly reflect the spirit and vibe of our town.”

Dwigans-Merritt is planning programs for the Wright Street Bark Park as well as new fall activities.

“The parks board and our staff are very excited to be a part of all the exciting things that Jacqueline will be planning in the future,” Janet Fawley, parks administrator, said. “We look forward to building on the programming foundation that has been built these past three to four years, with even more to come.”
