Lubeznik Center to expand programs

The Michigan City-based Lubeznik Center for the Arts recently received two grants from the Michigan City Community Enrichment Corp.

The Lubeznik Center for the Arts will use the funding to expand its free community art outreach and engagement programs.

The grants will support the center’s Creation Station and Family Days. The Creation Station encourages visitors to create art inspired by the current exhibition and display their creations on the gallery wall. The wall fills as the exhibition continues.

Family Days offer children and adults opportunities to connect with each other while enjoying docent-led, family-friendly tours along with art projects, scavenger hunts and snacks.

The funding will also support the center’s Roving Art Exhibit program, scheduled to launch this summer. The project will transform a moving van into a mobile art gallery with display walls and lighting. The Roving Art Exhibit will travel to various neighborhoods for several days, providing accessible docent-led tours and workshops directly within the community.
