Breeze Airways will touch down at South Bend International Airport with its inaugural arrival from Washington Dulles International Airport Nov. 8.
The flight will land at Gate 4, the airport’s newest gate. Airport and local officials will take part in a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m.
Officials will celebrate with a champagne christening of the aircraft on the ramp. Passengers will be treated to a gate party featuring cake, balloons and giveaways.
“We are thrilled to welcome Breeze Airways to SBN as our fifth airline,” said Mike Daigle, South Bend International Airport CEO and executive director, in a press release. “There is much to celebrate with back-to-back inaugural flights to Orlando and Washington, D.C. We look forward to a long partnership with Breeze, including a third nonstop to Fort Myers in February.”
David Neeleman, Breeze Airways founder and CEO, said the airline is excited to launch service from South Bend this week with new nonstop service to Orlando and Washington, D.C.
“South Bend has never seen service to Washington Dulles and connecting the city with the nation’s capital will no doubt have a positive impact for the community,” Neeleman said.
South Bend International Airport’s five air carriers provide nonstop flights to sixteen destinations with connections worldwide. The airport's multi-modal terminal serves over one million air and rail passengers each year.
