La Porte airport recognized

La Porte Municipal Airport is the winner of Aviation Indiana’s Airport of the Year 2025 award.

The accolade marks the first time La Porte Municipal Airport has won the award, said Rachel Boulahanis, the airport’s planning & outreach manager, in a press release.

Award winners are selected based on Aviation Indiana’s observations of the airport’s daily operations. Award criteria include the airport’s development, environmental improvements, safety management and contributions to the community. Aviation Indiana provides a state-wide network for general aviation, support industries, aerospace educators, airports, fixed base operators, aircraft owners and operators and pilots.

La Porte Municipal Airport received the award in October at the 2025 Aviation Indiana Annual Conference in South Bend.

LaPorte Municipal Airport is home to 75 private and corporate aircraft. The airport covers an area of approximately 478 acres and contains two runways. Recent capital improvement projects have resulted in all runways and taxiways being lit and the installation of a self-serve fuel pump. The airport sees about 15,000 to 20,000 aircraft operations per year.
