Park board, Doral partner

The Starke County Park Board has entered into a new partnership with Doral Renewables, the developer behind the Mammoth Solar project.

A Memorandum of Understanding commits $60,000 over the next 15 years to support Starke County’s parks and recreational areas. The agreement underscores both organizations’ shared dedication to enhancing outdoor recreation and environmental stewardship in Starke County.

Under the resolution approved Oct. 8, Doral Renewables will contribute annual installments to Starke County Parks to help fund electrical improvements, maintenance and future projects across the county’s park system. The park board will have full discretion over how the funds are used to advance goals outlined in the county’s Five-Year Master Parks Plan.

“This agreement reflects the strength of our partnership with Doral Renewables and their ongoing commitment to our community,” said Richard Ballard, Starke County Park Board president, in a press release. “Their investment will help us continue making our parks more accessible and enjoyable for everyone who lives in or visits Starke County.”

Amie Flora, Starke County Parks superintendent, expressed gratitude for the contribution and its impact on future projects.

“This support gives us flexibility to pursue key priorities identified in our master plan, like improving facilities, enhancing natural areas and expanding recreational opportunities,” Flora said. “We’re thankful for Doral’s leadership and partnership in making that vision possible.”

Doral Renewables emphasized that the donation represents part of its long-term commitment to the community.

“At Doral Renewables, bringing lasting value to the places where we operate is not only a priority, it’s a guiding principle,” Chris Kline, Doral Renewables development manager, said. “This partnership with Starke County Parks reflects our commitment to long-term partnership with the community and is about giving back and helping ensure that local residents and families can enjoy beautiful outdoor spaces for generations to come.”
