Horizon Bank gifts chamber membership

Michigan City-based Horizon Bank recently gifted a Michigan City Chamber of Commerce membership to Capricorn Vacations.

Marcola Ruiz, a veteran, owns Capricorn Vacations, a travel agency that crafts personalized travel experiences. The agency takes a local, hands-on approach to vacation planning, ensuring communication and tailored support for clients before, during and after their trips. They leverage industry relationships to create custom itineraries and group travel arrangements.

“As long as I travel, I’ll never thirst for knowledge and I’ll always have stories to tell,” Ruiz said in a press release.

The gift of a membership program is an initiative the chamber began in 2022. Top investors of the chamber have an opportunity to select a local minority, woman or veteran-owned business and provide them with a one-year chamber membership. For smaller businesses, this is an opportunity to connect with existing chamber members, businesses and organizations.

“We’re thrilled to see Capricorn Vacations selected for a gifted membership, and we extend our sincere thanks to Horizon Bank for making it possible,” Kurt Gillins, Michigan City Chamber president, said. “Support like this makes a real difference for small businesses in our community, helping them grow, connect and succeed.”

The chamber works to foster an inclusive business environment to promote a thriving community.

“Small businesses are the heartbeat of Michigan City, and Horizon is proud to support them,” Steve King, Horizon Bank regional president, said. “Providing Capricorn Vacations with a chamber membership opens doors to valuable community connections and opportunities for growth. We look forward to seeing them thrive and contribute to the vibrancy of our local economy.”
