Middlebury-based Essenhaus, in conjunction with the Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce, is planning a business after hours event July 17.
Attendees will have the opportunity to sample a variety of items from Essenhaus’ catering menu. They can also tour the Inn & Conference Center, hear from the owners and take part in giveaways. A Classic Car Cruise-In will take place after.
Attendees are welcome to bring their own classic or unique vehicles or to stroll through all of the vehicles after their time at the business after hours.
The business after hours event will take place 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. July 17 at the Inn & Conference Center at 240 US Highway 20 in Middlebury.
Bob and Sue Miller founded Essenhaus. In 1970, they moved west from Sugarcreek, Ohio to Middlebury. The Millers purchased property on U.S. 20 that contained a small 24-hour truck stop known as Everett’s Highway Inn. After a week of repairs and cleaning, they reopened Jan. 4, 1971, as an Amish-style restaurant complete with Amish and Mennonite cooks and waitstaff.
