Walmart stores in Goshen and Mishawaka are among 12 in Indiana that will be remodeled this year.
The store upgrades are part of an effort to modernize in person and digital shopping. Changes will include store layouts, technology that makes it easier to navigate stores and service. Pharmacies will be updated too.
Walmart has already invested $536 million in Indiana stores during the past five years. More than 650 stories will be remodeled this year nationwide.
“Our remodeled stores are designed with both customers and associates in mind,” said Glenda Fleming Willis, Walmart senior vice president for the north business unit, in a press release. “These upgrades across the state combine innovative technology, improved layouts and expanded services to deliver a better experience for everyone who walks through our doors or shops with us online.”
The Michiana stores are located at 4024 Elkhart Road in Goshen and 316 Indian Ridge Blvd. in Mishawaka.
Walmart and the Walmart Foundation donated $42 million to nonprofits in the communities they serve. That includes 21 million pounds of food.
Walmart has 10,000 stores and employs about 2.1 million people.
