Krieg DeVault, Rothberg combine

Fort Wayne-based Rothberg Law Firm will become part of Krieg DeVault, effective Jan. 1.

The joining of the two firms will strengthen Indianapolis-based Krieg DeVault’s presence in Indiana. The combination marks the second by Krieg DeVault within the past year. It combined with Chicago-based Fuchs & Roselli in January 2025.

Krieg DeVault has additional offices in Carmel, Crown Point and Mishawaka. Rothberg has roots dating back to 1952.

“Our clients’ needs continue to drive our growth into new and existing markets,” said Michael Messaglia, Krieg DeVault managing partner, in a press release. “The professionals at Rothberg share the same philosophy as Krieg DeVault in ensuring we provide our clients with responsive and high-quality service that helps them reach their goals. It is an honor to combine the strengths of our two firms to establish a stronger presence in northern Indiana.”

Messaglia said the combination of both firms would strengthen some of the firm’s key service areas of banking, business, employment, health care, real estate, municipal and estate planning.

“When we started discussing a combination, it became clear that Krieg DeVault would be a perfect fit for the evolution of Rothberg,” Susan Trent, Rothberg managing partner, said. “Having access to the full range of services that Krieg DeVault offers allows us to expand our offerings to both current and future clients in northeast Indiana and beyond. We are very excited about what the future holds for our firm.”

Beginning Jan.1, 2026, Rothberg Law Firm will transition its name to Krieg DeVault.
