As conversations increasingly take place online, understanding the boundaries of free speech in the workplace has never been more important.
The next virtual seminar in the South Bend Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Solutions for Success series is entitled Navigating Free Speech & Social Media at Work. Benjamin Perry, Barnes & Thornburg associate attorney, will walk attendees through the current landscape of employee rights, employer responsibilities and best practices for social media use.
Perry is an attorney in Barnes & Thornburg’s South Bend office whose practice focuses on helping employers minimize legal risks through counseling, training and compliance with equal employment opportunity and labor laws. He defends clients in employment litigation, including discrimination, harassment, and wage and hour claims. He advises clients on workplace policies, handbooks and labor relations.
Before practicing law, Perry spent nearly a decade in human resources, giving him an understanding of employer challenges. He also gained experience through internships with the University of Notre Dame’s Office of General Counsel and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana.
Outside the office, Perry is passionate about film and previously worked as a freelance photographer and videographer.
