Kruggel Lawton CPAs hires new partner

South Bend-based Kruggel Lawton CPAs appointed Sara Fetke Sweers as a partner.

Fetke Sweers, a CPA, will serve in the firm’s audit and assurance practice. The appointment brings the total number of partners at Kruggel Lawton to 20.

“We are excited to welcome Sara to Kruggel Lawton and the partner group,” said Barry Hall, managing partner, in a press release. “Not only does Sara bring a wealth of knowledge, but she is also a strong leader who will be instrumental in expanding our assurance practice in Michigan.”

Fetke Sweers will be based in Kruggel Lawton’s Portage, Michigan, office. In her new role, she will help grow the firm’s clientele throughout southwest Michigan.

Fetke Sweers has over 15 years of experience serving in a variety of industries. She has worked with clients in manufacturing, distribution, finance, not-for-profit, school districts, municipalities and tribal gaming.

“Sara will undoubtedly bring a fresh perspective, creating new opportunities to serve our clients and supporting growth within the firm,” said Jason Martin, Kruggel Lawton partner. “Sara is the first female partner in our Portage office, which is a milestone moment for the team.”

Fetke Sweers is a native of Southwest Michigan. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration in accounting from Western Michigan University. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Michigan Association of CPAs.

Fetke Sweers is also a member of the Western Michigan University Haworth College of Business Department of Accountancy Advisory Council. She also serves on the Women’s Leadership Advisory Committee of Sleeping Giant Capital and is on the YWCA Kalamazoo’s audit committee.

Kruggel, Lawton & Co. is an accounting and business consulting firm. It offers assurance services, tax compliance and consulting, estate planning and business accounting services. The firm has offices in South Bend, Elkhart and Goshen, Indiana; St. Joseph and Portage, Michigan; and Knoxville, Tennessee.
