Goshen Orthopedics celebrates 350th robotic surgery

Goshen Orthopedics recently completed its 350th robotic-assisted total joint replacement surgery.

The robotic-assisted surgery uses Mako SmartRobotics technology. It enhances surgeon control and optimizes implant placement. Patients undergoing robotic-assisted surgery often experience less pain, shorter recovery times and improved flexibility.

To commemorate the milestone, Goshen Orthopedics is hosting a free public event May 5. At Cinco de Mako, attendees can learn from surgeons Dr. Christopher Owens and Dr. Bryan Boyer about robotic-assisted joint replacement. They can also see the Mako SmartRobotics system up close. Cinco de Mayo-themed food will be provided.

“I am thrilled to have reached this patient milestone and to continue helping my patients return to activities they love,” Owens said in a press release. “With Mako SmartRobotics, I can utilize a CT scan to create a personalized surgical plan based on each patient’s unique anatomy before entering the operating room.”

The event will take place 4 to 6 p.m. May 5 at Goshen Hospital in Goshen. Learn more here.
