Jessica Chalmers recently joined South Bend-based THK Law as associate attorney, estate planning and elder law.
Greta Roemer Lewis, THK Law partner, said the firm is thrilled to welcome Chalmers to the team.
“Her ability to connect with clients, guide them through complex decisions and develop thoughtful solutions aligns perfectly with our mission,” Roemer Lewis said in a press release. “We look forward to the positive impact she will have on our clients and within the community.”
Before pursuing a legal career, Chalmers worked in the multi-family housing industry, including subsidized housing for elderly and disabled residents. Her work inspired her to attend law school and focus on estate planning and elder law. Chalmers earned her law degree from Indiana University. She also earned a master’s degree in criminal justice and public safety from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.
During law school, Chalmers volunteered with the Center for At-Risk Elders and served as a mentor advocate with the Re-Entry and Community Help Program.
Chalmers practiced elder law and estate planning at her previous firm. Her background includes crafting estate plans, assisting clients with Medicaid applications and representing families in probate matters.
Chalmers is a member of the National Academy for Elder Law Attorneys and the Indiana State Bar Association.
THK Law's practice areas include business counsel, estate and tax planning, trust administration, elder law and litigation. The firm has offices in South Bend, Elkhart and Cassopolis, Michigan.
